Controller General of Immigration, Mr. Sham'aan Waheed visited Maldives Embassy in Riyadh on 22nd January 2025. He was received by Ambassador Ahmed Sareer and staff at the Embassy. The Controller General of Immigration was visiting Riyadh on an official visit at the invitation of Major General Dr. Saleh bin Saad Al-Murabba, Director General of Passports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Sareer met with Mr. Ajlan Ibn Saad Al-Ajlan, Second Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Riyadh Chamber to explore new avenues for and strengthen business and investment ties between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Sareer paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah, Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 13th January 2025. During the meeting, discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in the areas of education and skills development between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. In particular, the Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the generous offer of scholarship slots at Universities in Saudi Arabia to prospective Maldivian students.
