Ambassador of Saudi Arabia pays a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, Matrek Al-Ajalin Aldosari, paid a farewell call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel this morning.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Khaleel conveyed the Government’s deep appreciation to Ambassador for his invaluable contributions to strengthening the brotherly relations between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Minister also highlighted the Ambassador’s efforts in enhancing close cooperation between the two countries across key areas.

Ambassador Aldosari expressed sincere gratitude to the Government and people of the Maldives for the warm hospitality and friendship extended to him during his tenure. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to further strengthening the close and brotherly ties between the two countries.

Minister Khaleel also acknowledged the warmth and friendship the Ambassador maintained throughout his tenure, and expressed confidence that the strong ties between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia will continue to flourish under the leadership of his successor. 

The Minister extended his best wishes to Ambassador in his future endeavors and assured the Government’s full support and cooperation to the incoming Ambassador.

Agreement on Archiving and Records Management signed between Maldives and Saudi Arabia

On 18th February 2025, a Bilateral Agreement on preservation and management of Archives and Records was signed between Maldives and Saudi Arabia. 

The Agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of Maldives by Mr. Mohamed Amir, Director General of National Arhives and from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Dr. Faisal Altamimi, Director General of National Centre for Archives and Records. 

The ceremony, held in Riyadh, was attended by H.E. Mr.  Ahmed Sareer, Ambassador of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and H.E. Mr. Carlos Serrano Vásquez, Secretary General of the International Council on Archives.

Maldivian students visit Saudi Arabia on a study tour

A group of students from the Maldives, comprising several schools and colleges, visited Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 14th February 2025, on a week-long study tour. During the visit, the students had an engaging tour of the important sites of Islamic history in Makkah and Madhina.

The visit was organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives, in collaboration with World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).

The study tour was organized in connection with the initiative of H.E. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to educate and increase awareness of Islamic leadership in the Maldives, under a flagship programme titled “Islamic Leadership Management Programme”, which was announced during the Presidential Address, at the opening of the People’s Majlis for the year 2025.
