Maldives Hosts IMCTC’s Program on "Building the Capacity of Imams and Preachers"

Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) launched a training program for Islamic Dawah personnel as part of Moderation initiative titled: "Capacity building for Imams and Preachers".

The launch ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Mohammed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and H.E. Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Secretary-General of IMCTC.

H.E. the Minister of Islamic Affairs stated during the launch ceremony that the program, organized by IMCTC in cooperation with the National Counter Terrorism Centre of the Republic of Maldives (NCTC), is a highly important initiative for enhancing coordination and cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism. He noted that terrorism is an ideological disease that must be confronted through awareness and the promotion of moderation in accordance with the principles of Islam.

The training program is part of IMCTC's strategic initiatives aimed at deepening the moderate discourse and countering extremist ideology.

The Permanent Representative of Maldives presents credentials to the Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)

The Permanent Representative of Maldives to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ambassador Ahmed Sareer presented his Letter of Credence to Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, in an official ceremony held today at the OIC Headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Sareer conveyed greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and expressed the Government of the Maldives' commitment to promoting the values and principles of the OIC as stipulated in its Charter. The Ambassador further expressed appreciation to the Secretary General for his commendable role in uniting the OIC Member States on issues central to the Islamic Ummah. He further reaffirmed that the Maldives remains steadfast in its unwavering commitment to work closely with OIC and its Member States in support of the Palestinian cause. Secretary General welcomed the Ambassador to his new role and reiterated the OIC’s commitment to strengthen the cooperation with the Maldives and working towards the betterment of Muslim communities.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization comprising of 57 Member States. The Maldives joined the OIC in 1976 and has since been an active Member in the organization. 

Ambassador Ahmed Sareer was accompanied by Ms. Rahumathullah Waheed, Second Secretary of the Consulate of the Maldives in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 

Imam of Masjid al-Nabawi concludes visit to the Maldives

The Imam of Masjid al-Nabawi, Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Budair, concluded his official five-day visit to the Maldives on 26th April 2025. Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives was at the Velana International Airport to see off the Imam.
During the visit, Sheikh Budair led Jummah prayers at Masjid Al-Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaan Al-Auzam, visited many other mosques and attended a number of scheduled events
