The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have established diplomatic relations on 17 March 1981. Maldives Embassy in Saudi Arabia, was inaugurated on 12 May 2008, marking a significant milestone in the bilateral relationship between our two nations.

His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed the current Ambassador, His Excellency Ahmed Sareer as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 30 October 2024.

His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Sareer, presented his copy of credentials to the His Excellency Abdulmajeed Al-Smari, Deputy Minister of Protocol Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 10 November 2024.
